The three-way catalytic converter is the most important external purification device installed in the automobile exhaust system. It can transform harmful gases such as CO, HC and NOX from automobile exhaust into harmless carbon dioxide, water and nitrogen through oxidation and reduction. The catalyst can simultaneously convert the main harmful substances in the exhaust gas into harmless substances, so it is called ternary. Structure: three-way catalytic reactor is similar to muffler. Its outer surface is made into a cylindrical shape with double-layer stainless steel sheets. The double-layer thin inter layer is provided with heat insulation material, asbestos fiber felt. The purifying agent is installed in the middle of the mesh partition.

Increased fuel consumption.

Blockage of the three-way catalyst will affect the normal operation of the oxygen sensor, which will also affect the accuracy of the oxygen sensor signal received by the engine, so that the fuel injection, intake and ignition can not be accurately controlled, thus increasing fuel consumption.

Poor exhaust and power reduction.

This is more obvious on turbocharged models. After the three-way catalytic converter is blocked, when high-pressure exhaust is required, the blockage will lead to poor exhaust, which will affect the intake air volume, thus leading to a decrease in engine power, which will then lead to a decrease in power and a lack of fuel, which will make running feel bad. In this respect, the power decreases at this time. In order to obtain the same power output, the driver will certainly increase the accelerator, which will also lead to increased fuel consumption.

The engine shakes, the fault light is on, and the engine shuts down frequently.

When the three-way catalytic converter is seriously blocked, the exhaust gas cannot be discharged in time, which will inevitably cause back pressure back flow. When the pressure exceeds the pressure value discharged by the engine, it will recoil to the combustion chamber, causing the engine to shake, gasp and even stall.
